This page will show all users from your company, roles assigned to them, and permissions that those roles grant to the user.
Matter365 User roles
There are seven types of User Roles in Matter365.
  1. Permission Manager - User with this role will be able to open the permissions page and manage roles and permissions for all users in the company.

  2. QBO Admin - QuickBooks Admin is the person in your company that has QuickBooks Online credentials. QuickBooks Online Admin will initially have to log in to QuickBooks account and connect it to Matter365. After you connected Matter365 to QBO, QBO admin will have access to all QuickBooks related pages and data (accounting page of Matter365, creating invoices, statements of accounts, manage trust accounts, and see Billing and Invoicing tabs on Matter dashboard). No one else needs to logs in to QuickBooks in order to use the integration with Matter365. All users using the QBO integration will be doing it through the account admin that QBO Admin used.

  3. QBO User - Once the QBO Admin connects your company's QBO to Matter365, users with QBO User role will be able to access all QuickBooks related pages and data. (they don't need to log in QuickBooks themselves, they will be connected via the QBO Admin account).

  4. Matter Export Manager - Users with Matter Export Manager Role enabled will be able to export full Matter data for all Matters, even if that user is not a member/owner on the Matter. Users that don’t have Matter Export Manager Role enabled won’t be able to export full Matter data for Matters for which they are not members/owners. Non-Matter Export Manager will be able to export the following data: Matter number, Client, Matter Name, Matter Status, Creation and Closing date, Archiving date, Responsible attorney, Owners.

  5. Reporting Manager - Users with this role will be able to see a link to a reporting page in a menu on the left-hand side of Matter365 application, and from there, to generate reports (

  6. Billing Manager - Users with this role will be able to access Matter365 billing. They will be able to see all details about your company subscription for Matter365 (bills, licenses, etc.)

  7. Docket Manager - Users with this role will be able to add time trackings and expenses to matters on behalf of other users.

Please note that without QBO admin role, the only possible reports to be generated will be Work in progress report and Docketed hours report. In order to generate Account receivable reports or Billing reports, users would need QBO admin role as well, since the data in those reports is pulled from QuickBooks.

Additionally, on this page, you can combine permissions each of the roles should grant to the user. This is done in the Role Permissions section:
Permissions each role will grant to the user
You can easily adjust permission for each role by toggling the button.
By default, every role will have one permission attached to it, and above we explained what each of them does.
